32nd Athens International Film Festival: Day 1 [photos]
The 32nd Athens International Film Festival takes place from September 30 to October 11, 2026, powered by EKOMED (Hellenic Film & Audiovisual Center – Creative Greece), with DEI as its Gold Sponsor, and co-organized with OPANDA (Organization for Culture, Sports and Youth of the City of Athens).
The 32nd Athens International Film Festival took to the big screen today with eight screenings across 𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑, 𝐃𝐀𝐍𝐀𝐎𝐒 𝟏 and 𝐂𝐈𝐍𝐎𝐁𝐎 𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐀 𝟏. Our major Lee Chang-dong retrospective began with the masterpiece «𝐏𝐄𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐓 𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐘», while the International Documentary Competition opened with the Cannes award winner «𝐑𝐄𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐒𝐀𝐋𝐒 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐀 𝐑𝐄𝐕𝐎𝐋𝐔𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍», the much-discussed «𝐍𝐀𝐙𝐀» and the delightfully unpredictable «𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐇𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐘 𝐎𝐅 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐂𝐑𝐄𝐓𝐄». The first five Greek Short Stories launched this year’s Greek Short Film Competition, while today’s programme also included the sardonic psychological thriller «𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐋𝐀𝐒𝐓 𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐎𝐑𝐓», with director Maria Sødahl in attendance, and the moving autobiographical film «𝐒𝐈𝐗 𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐓𝐇𝐒 𝐈𝐍 𝐀 𝐏𝐈𝐍𝐊 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐁𝐋𝐔𝐄 𝐁𝐔𝐈𝐋𝐃𝐈𝐍𝐆».
