A daring book by William Burroughs that until recently many considered unfilmable is given a spectacular adaptation by the ever unpredictable Italian director of "Call Me by Your Name", who manages to capture the spirit of one of the most important writers of the 20th century and at the same time deliver a fascinating cinematic paradox.

Superbly starring Daniel Craig, who is expected to be nominated for an Oscar thanks to this role, "Queer" is an unorthodox love story. Its hero is an American writer who wanders between casual love and alcohol abuse in 1950s Mexico City until he meets a mysterious young man and decides to travel with him to the jungles of South America in search of a legendary hallucinogenic substance.

With respect to the untamed fictional world of William Burroughs, "Queer" tells the story of one man's desperate and ultimately deeply romantic attempt to conquer the unattainable, which for him is to make the object of his desire completely his own. Unpredictable in mood, atmospheric, erotically charged, Luca Guadagnino's film has rightly found itself gracing several of the annual best creations lists by foreign critics.

The film stars Daniel Craig, Drew Starkey, Lesley Manville, Jason Schwartzman and Omar Apollo

"Queer" will be released in Greek theaters by Spentzos Film on January 16th.

The screening will take place on Monday January 13th, at 20h30, at the Amphitheatre of the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation (13 Eratosthenous Street, Pagkrati).
