Recently, any film coming to us from Irish cinema, whether it's "The Quiet Girl" or "Small Things Like These," is made with sincerity and genuine humanity. It is why it strikes a chord with the audience. “Christy” is made of the same materials, featuring a 17-year-old orphan with a violent past who is forced to move out of the foster home he has been living. Until his social reintegration is decided, he is temporarily housed with his older brother and his wife in Cork. However, his surroundings tempt him to return to a life of crime, while his brother struggles to keep him on the straight and narrow. What looks like a gloomy drama on paper translates into a film made to warm the heart and reward the audience with plenty of smiles. Grand Prix of the Generation 14plus section of this year's Berlin Film Festival. L.K.
