A renowned 40-year-old conductor of a large orchestra puts temporarily her career on hold and prepares finally to become a mother. Soon, however, she thinks that something very wrong occurred during her delivery and suspects that the baby she is carrying in her arms is not hers, but perhaps the product of some dark genetic conspiracy. The anxieties of motherhood and the way in which a child radically changes the way we perceive the world, are translated into a perversely entertaining combination of psychological thriller, paranoid fantasy and black comedy, which the Austrian director delivers with exact doses of mystery, ambiguity and grotesque humor, never forgetting to keep the audience on the edge of their seat. JOHANNA MODER
Austrian director, born in Graz. After graduating from high school, she moved to Vienna and worked for various film productions as assistant director, while studying directing at the Vienna Film Academy under Michael Haneke, among others. After making several short films, she shot her first feature film in 2013. From 2016 to 2018, she was a member of the board of the Austrian Film Directors Association.
