YIORGOS OF KEDROS
A personal journey in time, through the eyes of two generations of filmmakers, to the island of Donousa from the 70s to the present day. Yiorgos Kolozis went to Donousa for the first time in 1972, at a time when there was no tourism or electricity on the island. He lived alone on the beach of Kedros and so the locals gave him the nickname “Yiorgos of Kedros”. His death in 2009 resulted in his son, Yiannis, continuing his father’s work, completing a story in which time is looked upon as the process of reevaluating the present. Filmmakers in attendance

A personal journey in time through the eyes of two generations of filmmakers. Yorgos Kolozis first went to Donoussa in 1972 when there was no electricity or tourism. He was living alone at Kedros beach, accordingly named ‘Yorgos of Kedros’. His death in 2009 led his son to continue his work, creating a story where time is seen as a revision of the present.
“Yorgos of Kedros” was directed in 8mm, 16mm, analogue and digital video, from 1972 to 2018 and was funded exclusively by a crowdfunding campaign. It’s not just a documentary but a personal travel in time, a study on the idea of memory.

ΥΙΑNNIS KOLOZIS
Yiannis Kolozis has worked as a director, editor and director of photography. His first documentary ‘Un Condor’ was shot in Chile while his second documenatry ‘Yorgos of Kedros’ has been directed since the ‘70s through today by him and his father.
YORGOS KOLOZIS (1953-2009)
Born in Athens in 1953, he studied economics, photography and cinema directing. He was an early believer of independent cinema and turned towards documentary filmmaking. In 1985 he founded the production company Photokinisis.
