An 18-year-old Irish woman who spent her teenage years growing up in foster care returns to the family home she left when her alcoholic mother died. She gets a job, finds companionship and gradually develops a friendship with the ideal family next door. A friendship, however, that gradually becomes a disturbing obsession. In the best tradition of Ken Loach's socially-minded cinema, this promising debut avoids easy judgments in order to draw a sympathetic portrait of a girl trying awkwardly to combat the profound loneliness of her wrecked life. Superbly acted by one of the steadily rising young Irish actresses.

EVA BIRTHISTLE
Irish actress and director. Born in 1974, she has a number of performances to her credit (perhaps best known for Ken Loach's "Ae Fond Kiss"). She moved into directing in 2020 with “Kathleen is Here” made into a short film.
