Once upon a time, a shy teen found herself in the spot millions of girls envied: She became sweetheart (and wife) of Elvis Presley, the greatest pop idol of the 20th century. Well, did they live happily ever after? Not exactly. Sofia Coppola summarizes Priscilla Presley’s unorthodox coming of age story, which from 17 to 27 saw her living by the side of a moody King in a palace that was to be her golden cage. Based on the memoirs of the woman herself, the film begins as the actualization of a pink fantasy, and carries out showing a girl disappointed that ballads end in tears and simultaneously confident as to not show faith in imaginary loves.
