On a rainy day, a pregnant driving instructor sees her husband going on a bus, while he was supposed to be away for business. But what starts off as a drama of spousal deceit becomes an inconceivable thriller, since the couple has its...doppelganger in the city. The ghost of Farhadi meets Hitchcock, while Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Enemy’ strays in the world of Peter Weir’s ‘The Last Wave’. And the most consistently in-form national cinema today suffers on its realistic body the attack of a philosophical fantasy, depicting the world, expressing class/personal truths, daring racial criticism and through the cataclysmic cracks the rays of an Apocalyptic light. Not a small thing. I.D.
