RESTORE POINT | BOD OBNOVY
CZECH REPUBLIC, SLOVAKIA, POLAND, SERBIA | 2023 | COLOR | DCP | 108’ | CZECH
Prague, 2041. The victims of violent crimes are entitled to resurrection ‘if they have submitted their documents in time’. This is called restore point. But when the scientist who invented this technology is found dead and a rebellious organization seems to be responsible for a series of ‘non-restorable’ murders, a police officer tries to solve the case. The first Czech sci-fi in decades happens to be the high concept debut of director Robert Hloz. And it is so skillful, so mature in its futuristic visuals and so to the point in its narrative solutions that would certainly make one ‘Minority Report’ auteur grin. Hollywood moguls should be preparing to welcome this evident talent, too. I.D.
