Franky lives with her single-parent family in Eastern labor London. Her life was marked 15 years ago when as a child she survived with multiple burns from a pub’s arson. She works as a nurse when she meets Florence, who has just survived a suicide attempt. They fall in love. But Franky can’t leave her anger behind, nor Florence her own mental disorder. An unpretentious indie film, winner of a Teddy Award at Berlin for the straightforward performance by Vicky Knight, playing a version of herself in a story which draws from her own life experiences. A ‘marked’ study on the anger of trauma, which is experienced more as real life than as safe fiction. I.D.

SACHA POLAK
Dutch director born in Amsterdam in 1982. She studied at the The Netherlands Film and Television Academy in Amsterdam and practiced Direction at BingerFilmab also in Amsterdam, before presenting us with her debut (‘Hemel’) at Berlin in 2009 which won the FIPRESCI Award at the Festival’s Forum.
