THE GREEN BORDER | ZIELONA GRANICA
POLAND, CZECH REPUBLIC, FRANCE, BELGIUM | 2023 | B&W | DCP | 147’ | POLISH, ARABIC, ENGLISH, FRENCH
Where the dangerous swampy forests of Belarus and Poland draw the so-called ‘Green Frontier’, refugees from every corner of the world are trapped in their search for a better European life in the geopolitical crisis ‘Europe’s last dictator’, Alexander Lukashenko, has created. There, like pawns in an invisible war, the lives of a Syrian refugee family, a British teacher-activist and a young border guard, will collide. 33 years after ‘Europa-Europa’, veteran Agnieszka Holland returns with this topical and revealing drama. A film that aims to the heart, demanding from us to think of the terrible moral dilemmas ordinary people endure daily. Special Jury Prize at the recent Venice FF. Th.P.
