In 2006, journalist Chris Hansen believed he had found the ideal television platform to confront evil. No one, however, knew whether his initiative would prove beneficial or whether it would backfire on him and everyone involved. The first fiction by a charismatic documentary filmmaker, “Primetime” ruthlessly examines the moral boundaries of a vengeful reality show that became a phenomenon, featuring a Mephistophelean Robert Pattinson in the lead role and a performance that’s already generating a lot of buzz. It all began in 2004, when “Dateline NBC” uncovered a group of volunteers who were luring pedophiles by posing as minors online. Hansen saw an opportunity to bring this operation to television, and thus the controversial “To Catch a Predator” was born. The hidden cameras, the decoy actors, and Hansen’s dramatic appearance to confront each predator head-on became addictive for the audience, until a tragic turn of events forced the network to reevaluate its guidelines and question whether ‘justice’-serving self-righteous TV had crossed every line. A psychological dive into deep and dark waters, Oppenheim’s film transforms real events into a thriller brimming with suspense and sarcasm, offering a viewing experience that is both riveting and unsettling. Andreas Kyrkos

LANCE OPPENHEIM

Lance Oppenheim (b. 1996) is a director renowned for elevating previously undocumented communities into magical, cinematically rich narratives that have gained global critical acclaim. Graduated from Harvard University’s Visual and Environmental Studies program in 2019. His debut documentary, “Some Kind of Heaven” was produced by Darren Aronofsky.
