On the sun-drenched coastline of the French Riviera, summer turns into a dangerous game between two rival gangs of children competing in daring dives from the ‘Red Rocks’. Through the eyes of five-year-old Géo, innocence is intertwined with an instinctive wildness, friendship with skepticism, and the first stirrings of romance with the threat of danger. In what is perhaps his most irresistibly photogenic work, Bruno Dumont presents a highly reimagined adaptation of ‘Romeo and Juliet’ that takes him back to the roots of a realistic, semi-documentary cinema, enlisting young non-professional actors to register, with disarming poetry and rare tenderness, a harsher version  of childhood. Thodoris Karamanolis

BRUNO DUMONT
A French filmmaker born in 1958. He directed his first feature film at the age of 38, and with it began a long association with the Cannes Film Festival, where he has been honored on numerous occasions, including with two Grand Prix awards.
