At a Canary Islands luxury resort, a Danish family’s sunny holiday is abruptly interrupted when a chance encounter with a desperate refugee tests the limits of their compassion. As the demands for help escalate, good intentions begin to give way to fear, suspicion and the instinct for self-preservation. Maria Sødahl crafts a sardonic psychological thriller centered on the guilt and hypocrisy of the Western middle class, transforming the tourist paradise into a harrowing arena of moral collapse, where the security and terror of ‘the Οther’ hang in the balance on a tightrope.

MARIA SØDAHL

Norwegian film director and screenwriter. She debuted with the film “Limbo” in 2010. It was well-received and earned ten nominations at Amanda Awards, Norway's top film Awards. Her sophomore effort, “Hope”, was selected as Norway's Official entry for Best International Film at the Academy Awards. “The Last Resort” won Best Film at the Göteborg Film Festival.
