In the Aisles
Marion, who is married, catches Christian's eye, her shy new colleague with whom she shares the mundane daily routine in the aisles of the vast supermarket where they work. Before long a romance blooms. Sandra Hüller of “Toni Erdmann” fame and the highly-promising Franz Rogowski star in this deeply human film about the rejuvenating effects love can have on the torment of daily routine. Awarded the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury at the Berlin International Film Festival.

Thirty-year-old Christian starts working at a massive supermarket. A shy man, he integrates timidly in his new environment, while his focus is on Marion. However, the fact that she is married makes this reluctant flirtation complicated. A deeply humane film about the hell of daily routine and the little ways to escape it. A film that deals imaginatively with humour norms, as well as hope and despair in the age of cruel capitalism.
With Sandra Hüller («Toni Erdmann») and Franz Rogowski leading the way, the main characters of «In the Aisles» are looking for love and friendship, perhaps the only antidotes to a life cut up into pieces due to hard shifts and basically a job that imprisons you instead of setting you free. Prize of the Ecumenical Jury at the 68th Berlin Festival. N.S.
