The story of a man who is only happy when miserable, a man so addicted to pity that he does everything to gain it; his life in a world that is not hard enough for him. «Pity» is about how people deal with misery when it mixes with happiness. It’s about the balance between these two opposite terms, their equal importance and their spontaneous, artificial reconstruction in everyone’s daily life.
The film premiered at this year’s Sundance Festival and has won awards at the International Film Festival Rotterdam and the Odessa International Film Festival (Best Film and Best Direction), the Luxembourg City Film Festival (Special Jury Prize) and the Valletta Festival (Best Direction).
