Istanbul, 1963. A military group enters to national radio building to announce the Turkish people’s safety in the upcoming coup d'état. The critical detail they aren’t aware of, and the main comedy agent in the film, is that their partners in Ankara have failed. The fictionalized narration of yet another failed coup d'état inTurkey looks like a small οdyssey without redemption. A series of obstacles and incidents lead the characters to the same start-line.
A look at Turkey’s turbulent history, for which the director stylistically draws from flm noir and the cinema of Kaurismaki and Roy Andersson, creating an amazingly original and bold film, which, looking down on the past, relentlessly satirizes the present. Th.K.
